He learned that Tai Chi is about balance; physical balance & balance in our lives. Also with an understanding that excellent riding is about balance, James felt that riders could benefit from Tai Chi. So 15 years ago, James began working with riders helping them discover and correct imbalances in their body. James calls this technique, “Training from the inside out”. James uses ground exercises and the horse to massage the riders’ body, to work through their tensions and aid the healing of chronic injuries. Once tensions are released, physical and emotional balances are easier to attain. With improved physical and emotional balance, and James’ guidance, the rider is better able to work with the horses’ energy to achieve a level of riding that was previously unattainable. At the lecture, James will present the concept that is Tai Chi for the Equestrian, Riding from the inside Out. His presentation is augmented with discussion, demonstrations and video of some of his students. James shows what can be achieved in our riding when emotional and physical balance is found.
